Europe has become largely desertified in the not-so-distant future, giving rise to an energy-centric bureaucracy. Oskar is a botanist for Elektrond, the energy giant that rules the eastern fringes of the Energy Zone through their giant “Dandelions”—giant static generators that float above cities. His duty is to maintain the effectiveness of the generators, but recently there have been reports of accidental discharges electrocuting people on the ground. Oskar’s job is not to investigate, but when a local pulls him into her confidence he has no choice… and then there’s her nagging familiarity.
